Outdoor Design Project (Think Outside the Planter Box)
For this project, my class got the opportunity to rework the area outside the classroom.
Daily Log:
Feb 3rd
On February 3rd, me and a few other people combined three of the prototypes and made a blueprint. The original blueprint involved two planter boxes in the corners of assigned area: a square with a right triangle on one side. It also had a table in the center, and two wheel barrows in the corner (or boxes mirroring the ones at the top).

First, my partner, Kat, and I slightly altered the planter box design, connecting the two boxes in the top and making it a bit larger in general. Then, we set up all of the wood, making sure it would fit in the area that we had. We also had to cut some of the wood down to size; but not all of it.

My partner and first cut all of the wood that we needed. The trickiest parts were the two pieces of wood at 45 degree angles, as they had to lay flat on the wood they were up against, and therefore be cut at 45 degree angles on both sides. Most of the day was spent screwing the planter box together.

Since our design included an upper level, Kat and I started work on that. I, however, had an ambassador tour and was not in the class for most of the second hour.

During first period, the whole class cleaned. During second period, me and a few other people painted painted a table green. We only painted one side (the bottom), however, because it was too wet to flip over.

The original idea for the area in front of the planter box wouldn't work with the adjustments we had made earlier in the week, so Kat and I had to come up with another one.

February 18th
On February 18th, me and my partner, Kat, put together the second planter box. We also put it in its place and began to dig it in. I was really happy with what we got done that day, because it was even more than I originally wanted to.

February 19th
On February 19th, Kat and I finished digging the new planter box in, and began to fill it with dirt. We also started planting in it, and planted a bit more in the first box. We were only able to fill in the right side, and middle, though.

February 20th
On February 20th, Kat and I filled in the left side of the planter box, and finished planting everything in the two boxes.

February 21st
On February 21st, Kat and I completed the smaller back box. We dug it in, and filled it with dirt. We did not, however, plant anything in it. (After photo pending)

For the whole day, Kat and I worked on the planter boxes. We designed, and began to put together the bunny fences. They are going to be there to make sure that the rabbits can't eat the plants from the box.

During first period, the class had a physics worksheet assigned. During second period, me and a few other people painted the bottom side of a table. I'm really happy with what we got done, because we painted all that we could on the table without flipping it over.

On Feb 26th, Kat worked more on the bunny fences, and I planted some more. I fixed the onion's spacing, and planted a few other assorted things.

On February 28th, Kat and I almost finished with the bunny fence. We were stapling the chicken wire to the wood of the planter box, and using the zip ties to secure it to the bamboo.

February 28th
We didn't do any outdoor work on the 28th, because of the rain. We did, however, watch a movie about design. The one thing that really struck me about the movie was something the main character said. They were talking about the habits of a designer, and said that the hardest part of design is the first one, coming up with ideas and getting them on paper. That's very true, I'm realizing.

March 3rd
On March 3rd, Kat and I finished bunny-proofing the first box. We then began to prepare the chicken wire for the upper box. We cut it, put the bamboo in place, and laid it all out. (Sorry about the sideways photos, weebly doesn't like portrait style photos)

March 4th
On March 4th, I worked on my DP. We also had a Mini Design Challenge. We had to design the roof for the greenhouse, as well as the door, and the panels.
