En la luz o en la sombra sigo siendo yo. |
In the light or in the shadow, I'm still me. |
In this project, we are focusing on discovering the more introspective portions of ourselves. As an end product, we are writing a paragraph about ourselves, and translating it to Spanish (using many, many drafts). We're also taking a photo that we think shows who we are, to help exhibit with the written piece.
English Draft:
Kirsten is a 10th grade student who happily attends High Tech High North County. As you can see in her image, reading is a huge part of her life. Books and reading make it possible for her to go into another place for a while, and live in another person’s shoes. She also uses writing as a means of expression, and loves to create short stories, even if they are just in her mind. She is also interested in cooking, drawing, and playing video games, but those come second to reading and writing.
While she does act very extroverted, she tends to prefer the company of very few people at a time, if any, and has a very nice shell she occasionally hides in. Some of her more introverted qualities are expressed because she always has her nose in a book, or is totally immersed in what she is doing, keeping other people away. This makes it difficult for other people to really know who she is.

Reflection:
My Spanish skills have improved during this project because I have gotten a lot of practice with femininity/masculinity in sentences, and have gotten a lot of instruction with verb conjugation in sentences (which, in my opinion, I needed). I have also gotten a lot of practice with saying words in Spanish, which has gotten my mouth used to the different pronunciations of letters. I have grown more confident speaking Spanish during this project because of all of the practice we've had, like I said earlier. I've gotten much more comfortable speaking the language, though there is still a long way to go before I’m done.
